A really huge population is today suffering from addiction and it is very imperative to understand and identify the reason behind this. As for now it’s quite tricky to know that what causes addiction ad what it really means. Sometimes the inner needs like mental and emotional, generated in the mind of a person, makes him slave of these feelings and induces him to cross any limit to capture the same. The main cause behind addiction is the feeling of outrage and remaining boundary less, a person who is of such attitude is out of control and not in a state of mind to take sound decisions. Addiction, as associated to gambling, may also extend to other fields like drugs etc. Gambling, as a game is very fine but when it becomes an addiction, the consequences can be grave.
Cure for addiction of gambling is as difficult as for any other kind of addiction. It is been observed by surveys and experiments that people who are addicted to gambling, are excellent players. They are very easy with the game and win over and over again. They play continuously, without any difficulty and make more and more money. Now this ease and expertise in the field of gambling ultimately take the shape of addiction.
When the capabilities of earning and winning of the gambler crosses every limit, it becomes practically impossible for him to even think of quitting as they become the masters of the game. They become highly spontaneous and nothing seems to be hindering them from playing anymore. There is no reverse gear to this accelerated speed of an addictive gambles and the obsession, sometimes, reaches such levels that if he loses one game, then he continuously plays until he recovers the lost money.
The irony is that the addict doesn’t even know, in which condition he is in and that he is getting trapped in a web. He can only see the joy and entertainment related to the game and starts feeling good in the distressing environment of gambling. This situation contributes towards their infirmity and unenthusiastic crash for humanity.
At the time of crisis, the addicted person starts taking money from his friends and other known people. They are often seen agitating, filled with anxiety along with communal behaviour related to their life.
The repercussions of gambling addiction are so grave that the addict almost loses control over it and it becomes a type of dent occurrence for him. He rises above the charm of winning or losing and the only thing that remains in his mind is gambling more and more. The person start living in an illusion of making more money and gets in to chasing it by gambling continuously every day. Addicted people sometimes indulge in illegal activities to fulfil their financial needs, needs related to gambling, as they run out of money owned by them.
On losing all in gambling, many a times, addicted people become hopeless and may attempt suicide to end the suffering. Also, social unacceptability totally smashes the self confidence of such person.
There are certain indications and signs which show that gambling is curse in the societies and is related to addiction. Some of the examples are- Timing of gambling, debts arising out of it, people giving highest priority to the game, even more than their personal life and adopting a habit of gambling on all other things in their practical life. These are not the only traits which describe the evils of gambling, there are many other symbols which can do the same to a greater degree.
Lots of treatments, planning and therapies are implemented successfully to cure the addiction of gambling. So we can proudly believe and say that it is curable. The biggest role played in the way of treating addiction, is played by psychotherapy, within a group. But the results are evident only after a certain lapse of time and then only can the judgement b made.
